Free SEO keyword research tool

Enter one keyword and get the phrases people actually search, each with real monthly search volume, difficulty, CPC and trend, grouped by search intent. Free, with the numbers other free tools make you pay for.

Tip: start broad (one or two words). Four free searches per session, and you can export any result to CSV.

Enter a seed keyword above and hit Get keywords to pull live search volume, difficulty and CPC for the phrases people actually search. Click any keyword to copy it.

Live data, de-duplicated: where several phrasings share one measured pool of demand, they are merged into a single row and counted once rather than listed separately and added up. Click any keyword to copy it. For rank tracking, audits and AI-visibility monitoring on top of this, DataWise is free with a membership.

From one keyword to a whole content plan

Most people get stuck staring at a single keyword. The skill is expansion: taking "seo audit" and seeing the hundreds of phrases real people search around it, then knowing which ones are worth a page.

This tool does the expansion against a live keyword database and hands back the two numbers that decide what you build first: how many people search it, and how hard it is to rank for. Sort by difficulty, find the terms with real volume and a low score, and start there.

It also merges duplicate phrasings. Search engines report one pool of demand across several ways of saying the same thing, so listing them separately and summing the volumes can overstate a topic several times over. Merged rows are marked, and counted once.

FAQ

Keyword research tool FAQ

How does this free keyword research tool work?

Enter one seed keyword (for example "ai seo" or "plumber") and the tool queries a live keyword database for the phrases people actually search around it, then returns each one with its monthly search volume, keyword difficulty, CPC and year-on-year trend, grouped by the search intent behind it. There is no sign-up. You get four free searches per session, and every result can be exported to CSV.

Does the tool show search volume and keyword difficulty?

Yes, both, and for free. Every keyword comes back with its average monthly search volume, a keyword difficulty score from 0 to 100, the advertiser cost per click and how the volume has moved year on year. These are live figures from a paid keyword database, not estimates generated in your browser.

Why do some keywords show "+3" next to them?

Because search engines measure one pool of demand for several ways of phrasing the same thing. "seo audit tools", "tools for seo audit" and "seo audit tool" are typically reported at identical volume: they are one pool counted once, not three separate pools. The badge shows how many duplicate phrasings were merged into that row. Most keyword tools list them all separately and let you add the volumes up, which can overstate real demand several times over.

Can I export the keywords to CSV?

Yes. Every result has a Download CSV button, and the export includes all of it: keyword, intent group, monthly search volume, keyword difficulty, CPC, year-on-year trend and how many duplicate phrasings were merged into each row. It opens straight in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.

Why only four searches per session?

Every search pulls live data from a paid keyword database, so each one has a real cost to us. Four per session is enough to research a topic properly while keeping the tool free and open to everyone with no sign-up. If you need to run keyword research continuously, DataWise is included with an AI Ranking membership and has no per-search limit.

What is search intent and why does it matter?

Search intent is the reason behind a query. Informational searches ("how to do keyword research") want to learn; commercial searches ("best keyword tool") are comparing options; local searches ("seo services near me") are ready to act. Grouping keywords by intent tells you what type of page to build for each one, which is what actually drives rankings and conversions.

How do I turn these keywords into content?

Group related keywords into clusters, then build one page per cluster targeting the highest-volume term and answering the question-style variations in the body and FAQ. Informational clusters become guides and blog posts; commercial and local clusters become service or product pages. Sort by difficulty and start with the low-difficulty, decent-volume terms: those are the ones a newer site can realistically win. This hub-and-spoke approach is exactly how we structure sites inside AI Ranking.

Is keyword research still relevant with AI search?

Yes, more than ever. AI engines like ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews pull answers from content that clearly matches a query and its variations. The question-style keywords this tool surfaces are the exact phrasings people type into AI search, so answering them well is how you get cited.
